In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Disobedience of Allah and the Messenger ﷺ

(In the Light of the Qur’an)

وَ مَنْ یَّعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ وَ یَتَعَدَّ حُدُوْدَهٗ یُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَالِدًا فِیْهَا وَ لَهٗ عَذَابٌ مُّهِیْنٌ

Transliteration: Wa man yaʿṣi Allāha wa rasūlahū wa yataʿadda ḥudūdahū yudkhilhu nāran khālidan fīhā wa lahū ʿadhābun muhīn

Translation: “And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits, Allah will admit him into a Fire wherein he will abide forever, and for him there will be a humiliating punishment.” (An-Nisāʾ :14)

وَ مَنْ یُّشَاقِقِ الرَّسُوْلَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَیَّنَ لَهُ الْهُدٰى وَ یَتَّبِـعْ غَیْرَ سَبِیْلِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ نُوَلِّهٖ مَا تَوَلّٰى وَ نُصْلِهٖ جَهَنَّمَؕ-وَ سَآءَتْ مَصِیْرًا۠

Transliteration: Wa man yushāqiqi al-rasūla min baʿdi mā tabayyana lahū al-hudā wa yattabiʿ ghayra sabīli al-muʾminīn nuwallihī mā tawallā wa nuṣlihī jahannama wa sāʾat maṣīrā

Translation: “And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows a path other than that of the believers, We will leave him to that which he has chosen and will cast him into Hell, and it is an evil destination.” (An-Nisāʾ :115)

اَلَمْ یَعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّهٗ مَنْ یُّحَادِدِ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ فَاَنَّ لَهٗ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدًا فِیْهَاؕ-ذٰلِكَ الْخِزْیُ الْعَظِیْمُ

Transliteration: Alam yaʿlamū annahū man yuḥādidi Allāha wa rasūlahū fa-anna lahū nāra jahannama khālidan fīhā dhālika al-khizyu al-ʿaẓīm

Translation: “Do they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger—for him is the Fire of Hell wherein he will abide forever. That is the great disgrace.” (At-Tawbah :63)

وَ مَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَّ لَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ اِذَا قَضَى اللّٰهُ وَ رَسُوْلُهٗۤ اَمْرًا اَنْ یَّكُوْنَ لَهُمُ الْخِیَرَةُ مِنْ اَمْرِهِمْؕ-وَ مَنْ یَّعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلٰلًا مُّبِیْنًا

Transliteration: Wa mā kāna li-muʾminin wa lā muʾminatin idhā qaḍā Allāhu wa rasūluhū amran an yakūna lahumu al-khiyarat min amrihim wa man yaʿṣi Allāha wa rasūlahū faqad ḍalla ḍalālan mubīnā

Translation: “It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should have any choice in their affair; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly gone far astray.” (Al-Aḥzāb :36)

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِیْنَ نُهُوْا عَنِ النَّجْوٰى ثُمَّ یَعُوْدُوْنَ لِمَا نُهُوْا عَنْهُ وَ یَتَنٰجَوْنَ بِالْاِثْمِ وَ الْعُدْوَانِ وَ مَعْصِیَتِ الرَّسُوْلِ ٘-وَ اِذَا جَآءُوْكَ حَیَّوْكَ بِمَا لَمْ یُحَیِّكَ بِهِ اللّٰهُۙ-وَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ فِیْۤ اَنْفُسِهِمْ لَوْ لَا یُعَذِّبُنَا اللّٰهُ بِمَا نَقُوْلُؕ-حَسْبُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُۚ-یَصْلَوْنَهَاۚ-فَبِئْسَ الْمَصِیْرُ

Transliteration: Alam tara ilā alladhīna nuhū ʿani al-najwā thumma yaʿūdūna limā nuhū ʿanhu wa yatanājawna bil-ithmi wa al-ʿudwāni wa maʿṣiyati al-rasūl wa idhā jāʾūka ḥayyawka bimā lam yuḥayyika bihi Allāh wa yaqūlūna fī anfusihim lawlā yuʿadhdhibunā Allāhu bimā naqūl ḥasbuhum jahannamu yaṣlawnahā fabiʾsa al-maṣīr

Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū idhā tanājaytum falā tatanājaw bil-ithmi wa al-ʿudwāni wa maʿṣiyati al-rasūli wa tanājaw bil-birri wa al-taqwā wa ittaqū Allāha alladhī ilayhi tuḥsharūn

Translation: “Have you not seen those who were forbidden from secret counsels, yet they return to what they were forbidden and conspire together in sin, aggression, and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you they greet you with a greeting with which Allah has not greeted you, and they say within themselves: ‘Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?’ Hell will be sufficient for them—they will enter it, and what an evil destination it is.”
“O believers! When you hold secret counsel, do not confer in sin, aggression, and disobedience to the Messenger; rather confer in righteousness and piety, and fear Allah to whom you will be gathered.” (Al-Mujādilah :8-9)

وَّ مَنْ یَّعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ فَاِنَّ لَهٗ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِیْنَ فِیْهَاۤ اَبَدًا

Transliteration: Wa man yaʿṣi Allāha wa rasūlahū fa-inna lahū nāra jahannama khālidīna fīhā abadan

Translation: “And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger—for him is the Fire of Hell, wherein they will abide forever.” (Al-Jinn :23)

ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ شَآقُّوا اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗۚ وَ مَنْ یُّشَاقِقِ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ شَدِیْدُ الْعِقَابِ

Transliteration: Dhālika bi-annahum shāqqū Allāha wa rasūlahū wa man yushāqiqi Allāha wa rasūlahū fa-inna Allāha shadīdu al-ʿiqāb

Translation: “That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger; and whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger—then indeed Allah is severe in punishment.” (Al-Anfāl :13)

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اَطِیْعُوا اللّٰهَ وَ اَطِیْعُوا الرَّسُوْلَ وَ اُولِی الْاَمْرِ مِنْكُمْۚ-فَاِنْ تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِیْ شَیْءٍ فَرُدُّوْهُ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَ الرَّسُوْلِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَ الْیَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِؕ-ذٰلِكَ خَیْرٌ وَّ اَحْسَنُ تَاْوِیْلًا۠

Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū aṭīʿū Allāha wa aṭīʿū al-rasūla wa ulī al-amri minkum fa-in tanāzaʿtum fī shayʾin faruddūhu ilā Allāhi wa al-rasūli in kuntum tuʾminūna billāhi wa al-yawm al-ākhir dhālika khayrun wa aḥsanu taʾwīlā

Translation: “O believers! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. If you differ in anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination.” (An-Nisāʾ :59)

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تُقَدِّمُوْا بَیْنَ یَدَیِ اللّٰهِ وَ رَسُوْلِهٖ وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَمِیْعٌ عَلِیْمٌ

Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tuqaddimū bayna yaday Allāhi wa rasūlihī wa ittaqū Allāh inna Allāha samīʿun ʿalīm

Translation: “O believers! Do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger, and fear Allah; indeed Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (Al-Ḥujurāt :1)

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اَطِیْعُوا اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ وَ لَا تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَ اَنْتُمْ تَسْمَعُوْنَﭕ

Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū aṭīʿū Allāha wa rasūlahū wa lā tawallaw ʿanhu wa antum tasmaʿūn

Translation: “O believers! Obey Allah and His Messenger and do not turn away from him while you hear.” (Al-Anfāl :20)

قُلْ اَطِیْعُوا اللّٰهَ وَ الرَّسُوْلَۚ فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا یُحِبُّ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ

Transliteration: Qul aṭīʿū Allāha wa al-rasūl fa-in tawallaw fa-inna Allāha lā yuḥibbu al-kāfirīn

Translation: “Say: Obey Allah and the Messenger; but if they turn away, then indeed Allah does not love the disbelievers.” (Āl-ʿImrān :32)
