English Translation
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Children (2)
(In the Light of the Qur’an)
-
اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَنْ تُغْنِیَ عَنْهُمْ اَمْوَالُهُمْ وَ لَاۤ اَوْلَادُهُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ شَیْــٴًـاؕ-وَ اُولٰٓىٕكَ اَصْحٰبُ النَّارِۚ-هُمْ فِیْهَا خٰلِدُوْنَ
Transliteration: Inna alladhīna kafarū lan tughniya ʿanhum amwāluhum wa-lā awlāduhum mina Allāhi shayʾā, wa-ulāʾika hum waqūdu al-nār khālidīna fīhā
Translation: “Indeed, those who disbelieve — neither their wealth nor their children will avail them against Allah in any way, and they are the fuel of the Fire; they will abide therein forever.” (Al-Imran :116)

وَكَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَثِيرٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ قَتْلَ أَوْلَٰدِهِمْ شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ دِينَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ
Transliteration: Wa-kadhālika zayyana likathīrin mina al-mushrikīna qatla awlādihim shurakāʾuhum li-yurduhum wa-liyalbisū ʿalayhim dīnahum, wa-law shāʾa Allāhu mā faʿalūh, fa-dharhum wa-mā yaftarūn
Translation: “And thus their partners made the killing of their children seem pleasing to many of the polytheists in order to ruin them and to confuse for them their religion. And if Allah had willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and what they invent.” (Al-An‘am :138)

قُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ أَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَـٰنًا ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُم مِّنْ إِمْلَـٰقٍۢ ۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
Transliteration: Qul taʿālaw atlu mā ḥarrama rabbukum ʿalaykum, allā tushrikū bihi shayʾā, wa-bi-al-wālidayni iḥsānā, wa-lā taqtulū awlādakum min imlāq, naḥnu narzuqukum wa-iyyāhum, wa-lā taqrabū al-fawāḥisha mā ẓahara minhā wa-mā baṭan, wa-lā taqtulū al-nafsa allatī ḥarrama Allāhu illā bi-al-ḥaqq, dhālikum waṣṣākum bihi laʿallakum taʿqilūn
Translation: “Say: Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited for you: that you associate nothing with Him; and show kindness to parents; and do not kill your children out of poverty — We provide for you and for them; and do not approach immoralities, whether apparent or concealed; and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except by right. This He has instructed you so that you may understand.” (Al-An‘am :152)

وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَآ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَأَوْلَٰدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌۭ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌۭ
Transliteration: Wa-iʿlamū annamā amwālukum wa-awlādukum fitnah, wa-anna Allāha ʿindahu ajrun ʿaẓīm
Translation: “And know that your wealth and your children are but a trial, and that with Allah is a great reward.” (Al-Anfal :28)

كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمْ قُوَّةًۭ وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَٰلًۭا وَأَوْلَٰدًۭا فَٱسْتَمْتَعُوا۟ بِخَلَـٰقِهِمْ فَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِخَلَـٰقِكُمْ كَمَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُم بِخَلَـٰقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَٱلَّذِى خَاضُوٓا۟ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
Transliteration: Ka-alladhīna min qablikum kānū ashadda minkum quwwatan wa-akthara amwālan wa-awlādan fa-istamtaʿū bi-khalāqihim fa-istamtaʿtum bi-khalāqikum kamā istamtaʿa alladhīna min qablikum bi-khalāqihim wa-khuḍtum ka-alladhī khāḍū, ulāʾika ḥabiṭat aʿmāluhum fī al-dunyā wa-al-ākhirah wa-ulāʾika hum al-khāsirūn
Translation: “Like those before you — they were stronger than you in power and greater in wealth and children; they enjoyed their share, and you have enjoyed your share as those before you enjoyed their share, and you have engaged in vain talk as they engaged. Those — their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the losers.” (At-Tawbah :69)

ٱلْمَالُ وَٱلْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًۭا وَخَيْرٌ أَمَلًۭا
Transliteration: Al-mālu wa-al-banūna zīnatu al-ḥayāti al-dunyā, wa-al-bāqiyātu al-ṣāliḥātu khayrun ʿinda rabbika thawāban wa-khayrun amalā
Translation: “Wealth and children are the adornment of the worldly life, but the enduring good deeds are better with your Lord in reward and better in hope.” (Al-Kahf :46)

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ وَٱخْشَوْا۟ يَوْمًۭا لَّا يَجْزِى وَالِدٌ عَن وَلَدِهِۦ وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَن وَالِدِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا ۚ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ ۖ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْغَرُورُ
Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā al-nāsu ittaqū rabbakum wa-ikhshaw yawman lā yajzī wālidun ʿan waladihī wa-lā mawlūdun huwa jāzin ʿan wālidihī shayʾā, inna waʿda Allāhi ḥaqq, fa-lā taghurrannakumu al-ḥayātu al-dunyā wa-lā yaghurrannakum bi-Allāhi al-ghurūr
Translation: “O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his child, nor will a child avail his father in anything. Indeed, the promise of Allah is true; so let not the worldly life deceive you, nor let the Deceiver deceive you concerning Allah.” (Luqman :33)

اِعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّمَا الْحَیٰوةُ الدُّنْیَا لَعِبٌ وَّ لَهْوٌ وَّ زِیْنَةٌ وَّ تَفَاخُرٌۢ بَیْنَكُمْ وَ تَكَاثُرٌ فِی الْاَمْوَالِ وَ الْاَوْلَادِؕ-كَمَثَلِ غَیْثٍ اَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهٗ ثُمَّ یَهِیْجُ فَتَرٰىهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ یَكُوْنُ حُطَامًاؕ-وَ فِی الْاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِیْدٌۙ-وَّ مَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ وَ رِضْوَانٌؕ-وَ مَا الْحَیٰوةُ الدُّنْیَاۤ اِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُوْرِ
Transliteration: Iʿlamū annamā al-ḥayātu al-dunyā laʿibun wa-lahwun wa-zīnatun wa-tafākhurun baynakum wa-takāthurun fī al-amwāli wa-al-awlād, ka-mathali ghaythin aʿjaba al-kuffāra nabātuhū thumma yahīju fa-tarāhu muṣfarran thumma yakūnu ḥuṭāmā, wa-fī al-ākhirati ʿadhābun shadīdun wa-maghfiratun mina Allāhi wa-riḍwān, wa-mā al-ḥayātu al-dunyā illā matāʿu al-ghurūr
Translation: “Know that the worldly life is only play, amusement, adornment, mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in wealth and children — like rain whose growth pleases the disbelievers; then it dries and you see it turn yellow; then it becomes debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And the worldly life is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion.” (Al-Hadid :20)

وَ لَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ اَزْوَاجُكُمْ اِنْ لَّمْ یَكُنْ لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌۚ-فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ وَصِیَّةٍ یُّوْصِیْنَ بِهَاۤ اَوْ دَیْنٍؕ-وَ لَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ اِنْ لَّمْ یَكُنْ لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌۚ-فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِ وَصِیَّةٍ تُوْصُوْنَ بِهَاۤ اَوْ دَیْنٍؕ
Transliteration: Wa-lakum niṣfu mā taraka azwājukum in lam yakun lahunna walad, fa-in kāna lahunna waladun fa-lakumu al-rubuʿu mimmā tarakna min baʿdi waṣiyyatin yūṣīna bihā aw dayn, wa-lahunna al-rubuʿu mimmā taraktum in lam yakun lakum walad, fa-in kāna lakum waladun fa-lahunna al-thumunu mimmā taraktum min baʿdi waṣiyyatin tūṣūna bihā aw dayn
Translation: “And for you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, then for you is one-fourth of what they leave, after any bequest they make or debt. And for them is one-fourth of what you leave if you have no child. But if you have a child, then for them is one-eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you make or debt.” (An-Nisa :12)
