Translation: “Mothers shall suckle their children for two full years — for one who desires to complete the term of nursing; and upon the father is the provision and clothing of them according to what is customary. No soul shall be burdened beyond its capacity. Neither shall a mother be harmed because of her child, nor a father because of his child, and upon the heir is the like of that. And if they both desire weaning by mutual consent and consultation, there is no sin upon them. And if you wish to have your children nursed by others, there is no sin upon you when you give what is due according to what is customary. And fear Allah and know that Allah is Seeing of what you do.” (Al-Baqarah :233)
