Signs of the Day of Resurrection (2) (In the Light of Ḥadīth)

    Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The Hour will not be established until the Muslims fight the Jews. The Muslims will kill them until a Jew hides behind a stone or a tree, and the stone or tree will say: ‘O Muslim, O servant of Allah, this Jew is behind me; come and kill him,’ except for the gharqad tree, for it is among the trees of the Jews.”

Near the Day of Resurrection, time will pass rapidly:

    Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The Hour will not be established until time draws close: a year will be like a month, a month like a week, a week like a day, a day like an hour, and an hour like the flare of a flame.”

    al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddād (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I have been sent close to the Hour,” and he indicated this by placing the forefinger and the middle finger together.

Major signs of the Day of Resurrection:

    Ḥudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We were discussing the Hour when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked toward us and said: “The Hour will not come until you see ten signs.” He then mentioned them: the smoke, al-Dajjāl, the Beast of the earth, the rising of the sun from the west, the descent of ʿĪsā ibn Maryam (peace be upon him), Gog and Magog, three landslides—one in the east, one in the west, and one in the Arabian Peninsula—and a fire that will emerge from the direction of ʿAdan and drive the people toward the place of gathering. In another narration, the tenth sign is mentioned as a wind that will cast people into the sea.

The first of the major signs of the Hour:

    ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “The first of the major signs to appear will be the rising of the sun from the west, or the emergence of the Beast before the people at mid-morning. Whichever of the two appears first, the other will follow soon after.”

After the appearance of three signs, faith will no longer benefit a person:

    Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When three signs appear, faith will not benefit a person who did not previously believe or who did not earn good through his faith: the rising of the sun from the west, the appearance of al-Dajjāl, and the emergence of the Beast.”
