بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

لعنت و تکفیر (احادیث کی روشنی میں)

  • ”حضرت ابو الدرداء رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو فرماتے سنا، جب کوئی شخص کسی چیز پر لعنت بھیجتا ہے تو لعنت پہلے آسمان کی طرف بلند ہوتی ہے تو آسمان کے دروازے بند کر دیئے جاتے ہیں تب وہ زمین کی طرف اُترتی ہے تو زمین کے راستے بھی بند کر دیئے جاتے ہیں، تو پھر وہ دائیں بائیں پھرتی ہے لیکن جب کوئی راستہ نہیں پاتی تو اس شخص کی طرف جاتی ہے جس پر لعنت بھیجی گئی ہو، اگر وہ واقعی اس لعنت کا مستحق ہو، ورنہ لعنت بھیجنے والے کی طرف لوٹتی ہے “۔ (سُنن ابی دائود)

مسلمان پر لعنت کرنا قتل کے برابر ہے :-

  • ”حضرت ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا مسلمان پر لعنت کرنا اسے قتل کرنے کی مانند ہے اور مسلمان پر کفر کا الزام لگانا اسے قتل کرنے کی مانند ہے “۔ (صحیح بخاری)

لعنت کی مذمت :-

  • ”حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں، رسول اللہ ﷺ کے زمانہ میں ایک شخص عبداللہ نامی تھا، لوگ اسے حمار کہا کرتے تھے وہ آنحضرت ﷺ کو ہنسایا کرتا تھا اور آنحضرت ﷺ نے ایک مرتبہ اسے شراب نوشی پر کوڑوں کی سزا بھی دی تھی تو اسے ایک دن پکڑ کر لایا گیا۔ ایک شخص نے مجمع سے کہا، اللہ کی لعنت اس پر یہ کتنی زیادہ شراب نوشی کرتا ہے یہ سن کر رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا اس پر لعنت نہ بھیجو۔ اللہ کی قسم مجھے یہی معلوم ہے کہ اسے اللہ اور رسول ﷺ سے محبت ہے “۔ (صحیح بخاری)

  • ”حضرت ابو الدرداء رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے سنا فرماتے تھے زیادہ لعنت بھیجنے والے قیامت کے دن نہ گواہ بن سکیں گے اور نہ سفارشی “۔ (صحیح مسلم)

مومن لعنت کرنے والا اور طعنہ دینے والا نہیں ہوتا :-

  • ”حضرت ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا مومن طعن دینے والا، لعنت بھیجنے والا، فحش گو اور بد زبان نہیں ہوتا “۔ (جامع ترمذی)

رسول اللہ ﷺ کا لعنت سے انکار :-

  • ”حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں رسول اللہ ﷺ سے کہا گیا آپ مشرکوں کیلئے بددُعا کیجئے اور ان پر لعنت بھیجئے۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا میں تو رحمت بنا کر بھیجا گیا ہوں ۔ لعنت کرنے والا بنا کر نہیں بھیجا گیا “۔ (صحیح مسلم)

رسول اللہ ﷺ کا طرز عمل :-

  • ”حضرت انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں نبی ﷺ نہ گالی دیتے تھے نہ بُری بات زبان سے نکالتے تھے اور نہ لعنت بھیجتے تھے۔ کسی سے ناراض ہوتے تو بس یہ فرماتے اسے کیا ہو گیا۔ اس کی پیشانی خاک آلود ہو “۔ (صحیح بخاری)

English Translation

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Cursing and Declaring Disbelief (In the Light of Hadith)

“Hazrat Abu al-Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: When a person sends a curse upon something, the curse first rises toward the sky; then the gates of the sky are closed against it. Then it descends toward the earth, and the paths of the earth are also closed against it. Then it moves to the right and left, and when it finds no way, it goes to the person upon whom the curse was sent; if he is deserving of it, it falls upon him, otherwise it returns to the one who sent the curse.” (Sunan Abi Dawud)

Cursing a Muslim is like killing him:

“Hazrat Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Cursing a Muslim is like killing him, and accusing a Muslim of disbelief is like killing him.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Condemnation of cursing:

“Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ there was a man named ‘Abdullah, whom people used to call Himar. He used to make the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laugh, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once had him flogged for drinking wine. One day he was brought again, and a man from the gathering said: May the curse of Allah be upon him; how often he drinks! Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not curse him. By Allah, I know nothing about him except that he loves Allah and His Messenger.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

“Hazrat Abu al-Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Those who frequently send curses will neither be witnesses nor intercessors on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Muslim)

A believer is not one who curses or taunts:

“Hazrat Ibn Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: A believer is not one who taunts, who curses, who uses obscene speech, or who is foul-mouthed.” (Jami‘ al-Tirmidhi)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ refrained from cursing:

“Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: It was said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, ‘Invoke against the polytheists and curse them.’ He ﷺ said: I have been sent only as a mercy; I have not been sent as one who curses.” (Sahih Muslim)

The conduct of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:

“Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet ﷺ neither used abusive language nor uttered evil speech, nor did he send curses. When he became displeased with someone, he would only say: What has happened to him? May his forehead be dust-stained.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
