بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
دُعا (احادیث کی روشنی میں)
"حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: تم میں سے جس کے لئے دُعا کا دروازہ کھل گیا اُس کے لئے رحمت کے دروازے کھل گئے۔ اور اللہ کو سوالوں اور دُعائوں میں سب سے زیادہ محبوب یہ ہے کہ بندے اُس سے عافیت کی دُعا کریں یعنی کوئی دُعا اللہ تعالیٰ کو اس سے زیادہ محبوب نہیں۔" (جامع ترمذی)
"حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: جو اللہ تعالیٰ سے نہ مانگے اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ ناراض ہوتا ہے۔" (جامع ترمذی)
"حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: دُعا کار آمد اور نفع مند ہوتی ہے اُن حوادث میں بھی جو نازل ہو چکے ہوتے ہیں اور اُن میں بھی جو ابھی نازل نہیں ہوئے ہیں پس اے خُدا کے بندو دُعا کا اہتمام کرو"۔ (جامع ترمذی)
"حضرت سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: تمھارے پروردگار میں بدرجہ غایت حیا اور کرم کی صفت ہے جب بندہ اسکے آگے مانگنے کیلئے ہاتھ پھیلاتا ہے تو اُسکو شرم آتی ہے کہ اِن کو خالی ہاتھ واپس کرے (کچھ نہ کچھ عطا فرمانے کا فیصلہ ضرور فرماتا ہے)"۔ (جامع ترمذی ، سُنن ابی دائود)
دُعا کیلئے ہاتھ اُٹھائیں جائیں، یہ تو طریقہ دُعا ہے۔ زبان سے دُعا مانگی جائے، یہ تو الفاظ دُعا ہے۔ دُعا کا اصل تعلق تو دِل کی کیفیت سے ہوتا ہے۔ کہ ہمارا دِل کتنا اللہ کریم کی طرف متوجہ ہے۔ دُعا مانگتے ہوئے ہمارا دِل کہیں ہوتا ہے دماغ کہیں تو دُعا کیسے قبول ہو۔
"حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا:۔ جب اللہ تعالیٰ سے دُعا مانگو اور دُعا کرو تو اِس یقین کے ساتھ کرو کہ وہ ضرور قبول کرے گا اور جان لو اور یاد رکھو اللہ اِسکی دُعا قبول نہیں کرتا جسکا دِل (دُعا کے وقت) اللہ تعالیٰ سے غافل اور بے پرواہ ہو"۔ (جامع ترمذی)
"حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا:۔ جب تم میں کوئی دُعا کرے تو اِس طرح نہ کہے کہ:۔ "اے اللہ! تو اگر چاہے تو مجھے روزی دے" بلکہ اپنی طرف سے عزم اور قطعیت کے ساتھ اللہ کے حضور میں اپنی دُعا مانگ رکھے ۔ بے شک وہ کرے گا وہی جو چاہے گا۔ کوئی ایسا نہیں جو زور ڈال کر اس سے کرا سکے"۔ (صحیح بخاری)
"جو کوئی چاہے کہ پریشانیوں اور تنگیوں کے وقت اللہ تعالیٰ اِسکی دُعا قبول فرمائے تو اِسکو چاہئے کہ عافیت اور خوش حالی کے زمانہ میں دُعازیادہ کیا کرے"۔ (جامع ترمذی)
"حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: تمھاری دُعائیں اُس وقت تک قابل قبول ہوتی ہیں جب تک کہ جلد بازی سے کام نہ لیا جائے۔ (جلد بازی یہ ہے) کہ بندہ کہنے لگے کہ میں نے دُعا کی تھی مگر وہ قبول ہی نہیں ہوئی"۔ (صحیح بخاری ، صحیح مسلم)
English Translation
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Supplication — In the Light of Hadith
Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: For the one for whom the door of supplication has been opened, the doors of mercy have been opened for him. And among all requests and supplications, the most beloved to Allah is that a servant asks Him for ‘afiyah (well-being, protection and safety); no supplication is more beloved to Allah than this.

Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever does not ask Allah, Allah becomes displeased with him.

Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Supplication is beneficial and effective regarding both those calamities that have already descended and those that have not yet descended. Therefore, O servants of Allah, hold firmly to supplication.

Salman al-Farsi رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Your Lord is exceedingly Modest and Generous; when His servant raises his hands before Him in supplication, He feels shy to return them empty — rather He decides to grant something.

Raising the hands for supplication is the outward method of du‘a, and speaking with the tongue forms its words. However, the true essence of supplication is connected to the state of the heart — how deeply the heart is turned toward Allah. If the heart is elsewhere while the mind is distracted, how can the supplication be accepted?
Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When you supplicate to Allah, supplicate with firm certainty that He will answer. And know well that Allah does not accept the supplication of a heart that is heedless and inattentive.

Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When one of you supplicates, he should not say, “O Allah, if You will, grant me provision.” Rather, he should ask with determination and resolve, for Allah does whatever He wills and none can compel Him.

Whoever wishes that Allah respond to him in times of hardship and distress should increase in supplication during times of ease and well-being.

Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Your supplications continue to be accepted so long as a person does not hasten — and hastening is that he says, “I supplicated, but it was not accepted.”
